unsynchronised pretendedness.

IT'S BACK ! THE RECORD OF THE YEAR ! After a deluge of disappointed and confused non existent  music fans contacted me in the made-up world inside my head, it's been made perfectly clear that the world (inside my head) needs this record. And you can have it too.

There are times when I wished the outside matched the inside, but in the meantime I  would like to humbly offer you the reality of this unsynchronised pretendedness.

So listen up and buy it !!!

A SEARING HAZE OF RABBIT HOLE FALLING PSYCHOSIS

''...this wildly wonderful psychedelic mirage''

Here's a smashing review for 'Sarum Sounds' on the Sunday Experience blog site. Certainly one of the better blogs around, writer Mark Barton pens deeply poetic and picturesque words and a million thanks you's are due to him for his kind support !

Beaulieu Porch

A very brief mention for this nugget, this I hasten to advise is your suggested listening acquirement for day – the Beaulieu Porch who are doing a limited deal whereupon you can nab all their albums – four in total for less than a packet of smokes – how ridiculous is that. Of course we’ve had occasion to mention Beaulieu Porch is passing in long since forgotten dispatches – new full length ‘Sarum Sounds’ employs a more edgy and fractured tone and finds them in a somewhat schizoid melodic frame of mind as they tunnel their way deep into the fragmenting firmament of the psychedelic eye, the pastoral posies of the past replaced by a scuzzing kaleiodoscopia which admittedly still bears the trademark Ooberman styled lilts yet now revolves and orbits a twin mooned mosaic whose influence freewheels between the luck of eden hall (none more so than on the sci fi psyche out grooves of opener ‘giant supermen’) and the doleful lions. That said plenty of Std Barrett and Keith West motifs daub and colour this wildly wonderful psychedelic mirage the latter most notably on the breathlessly aching and cosmically cooled ‘goodbye sarum’ while the day-glo’d new wave freak out ‘Thursday sound revival’ hints of an untamed crooked crafting that wouldn’t look far out of place on ‘SF Sorrow’. All said on this brief first hearing our favourite moment by far ‘june’ is sumptuously trimmed in baroque corteges sighed in ghost like ethereal weaves of lulling chime motifs and genuflecting string arrangements (see Ooberman) which by the close fracture and frazzle into a searing haze of rabbit hole falling psychosis.

A WARNING !!!

These songs have been recorded PSYCHEDELICALLY.

The songs you hear on the 4 Beaulieu Porch  albums were recorded at 'Tillsammans Records Recording Studio', which is a second-hand Boss BR 1200 home porta studio with the back hanging off it, I don't know how to work it because the instruction book was too complicated, so stuff's just been bashed in there and cranked out the other side.

All the mistakes and duff notes have been left in, partly because it's 'psychedelia', but mostly because I don't know how how to take them out once they're in there.

So there you are. It is what it is. Have a listen. x

''Psych Pop doesn't get any better''

This was the verdict from the 'I Don't Hear A Single' blogsite, which was nice. Here's the full review;

There are 12 songs, each one with a different title. A nice picture on the cover of Kim Berry. Have a listen. Buy it.  Be happy.

ACTIVE LISTENER REVIEW

''Beaulieu Porch is the work of one man, the multi talented Simon Berry, and judging by this he's some sort of twisted, psych pop genius.''

There we are, then. The words of Nathan Ford, from The Active Listener blog, in his review of the debut Beaulieu Porch album.

The album was released in 2012 and received some surprisingly marvellous reviews. It found itself in several end of year 'best of' list and even made an appearance in the illustrious Shindig! magazine,  as well as being named 4th best psychedelic album of the 21st century, in a poll conducted by The Active Listener.

It's only available now as a download, from Tillsammans Records http://tillsammansrecords.bandcamp.com/album/beaulieu-porch although there are still hopes that it may one day be released on vinyl.
